Overview

FoundationChat is designed with your privacy as the absolute top priority. We believe your conversations and data should remain completely private and under your control.

This privacy policy explains how we handle your data - spoiler alert: we don't.

Data Collection

FoundationChat collects ZERO data. Specifically:

• No personal information is collected
• No conversation data is transmitted to any servers
• No analytics or tracking of any kind
• No third-party services are integrated
• No account creation or login required
• No advertising networks
• No usage statistics are gathered
• No crash reports are sent (unless you choose to send them to Apple)

AI Processing & Third-Party Services

FoundationChat does NOT use ChatGPT, OpenAI, or any cloud-based or third-party AI service.

All AI processing happens entirely on your device using:

• Apple Foundation Models – Apple's on-device language model API
• Cactus – On-device open-source models (e.g., Qwen, Gemma) that run locally
• Apple Vision – On-device image analysis for attachments

What data is sent: None. Your messages, attachments, and conversations never leave your device.

Who receives data: No one. We do not transmit any data to servers or third parties.

User permission: Not applicable—we do not share data with any third party, so no consent for sharing is required.

How FoundationChat Works

FoundationChat uses Apple's on-device Intelligence (FoundationModels API) and/or Cactus (on-device open models) to process all conversations locally on your iPhone or iPad.

Your conversations:

• Run entirely on your device using Apple's neural engine
• Never leave your device - not even to Apple's servers
• Are not sent to any remote servers (ours or third-party)
• Are stored locally in your device's private app storage
• Are protected by iOS/iPadOS security and encryption
• Work completely offline with no internet connection

Data Storage

All conversation history is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage container. This data:

• Is automatically encrypted by iOS/iPadOS using industry-standard encryption
• Cannot be accessed by other apps on your device
• Is included in your iCloud backup only if you have iCloud backup enabled for this app in your device settings (you control this)
• Is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app
• Remains accessible only to you through the FoundationChat app

Note: If you use iCloud backup, your conversation history will be included in your encrypted iCloud backup. This is controlled by your iOS settings, not by FoundationChat. Your iCloud data is encrypted and only accessible to you.

Third-Party Services

FoundationChat does not integrate with any third-party services. We do not use ChatGPT, OpenAI, or any external AI APIs.

We do not use:

• Analytics providers (no Google Analytics, no Firebase, nothing)
• Advertising networks
• Crash reporting services (beyond Apple's opt-in system crash reporting)
• Social media integrations
• Cloud services for data processing
• External APIs or servers

Children's Privacy

FoundationChat does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because we don't collect any data at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.

Parents: Your children's conversations remain completely private and on their device, just like adult users.

Your Rights & Control

Since FoundationChat doesn't collect any data, there is no data for us to access, modify, export, or delete.

You have complete control:

• Delete conversations: Swipe to delete any conversation in the app
• Delete all data: Simply uninstall the app to remove all local data
• Control backups: Manage iCloud backup settings in iOS Settings
• No account to delete: There's no account or profile associated with the app

Security

Your data security is handled by:

• iOS/iPadOS encryption: All app data is encrypted by default
• On-device processing: No network transmission means no interception risk
• Apple's security: We leverage Apple's industry-leading security infrastructure
• Sandboxed storage: Your data is isolated from other apps

Because everything runs locally and nothing is transmitted, your conversations are as secure as your device itself.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Any changes will be:

• Posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date
• Reflected in the App Store listing
• Announced in app update notes if significant

Our commitment: We will never change our core principle of zero data collection. If we ever needed to collect any data (which we don't foresee), we would clearly notify users and request explicit consent.
